Heated-Humidified Incubators
HH Series
The HH series incubators utilize heat to maintain temperature from as low as 5ºC above ambient conditions to 60ºC. If your set point is within this range, you should look at the models below for maximum efficiency and cost. Running the models below will save you up to 80% in electricity costs vs. a compressor unit from competitors. Additionally, parts are easily replaced since there is no compressor – should you need repairs past the warranty period.

Darwin Chambers Company’s NFPA, GSA, and NARA Directive 1571-compliant Archival Storage Chambers are engineered to provide maximum value, efficiency and conformance with all applicable standards and codes. Archival chambers provide environmental controls for storing records and materials (including paper documents and items with high fibrous content, various films, microfiche, and photographic materials) that require permanent protection for storage and preservation. Our high-performance systems are offered with nearly unlimited operational fail safes, includ- ing full system and control redundancy. In addition to keyed entry, numerous security options are also available, due to the often irreplaceable nature of the materials to be stored and preserved in this type of chamber. Our chambers are engineered to accommodate the loads and unique requirements of the specific materials to be stored, with industry-leading control and uniformity of both temperature and humidity variables. Darwin Chambers Company has teamed up with Colorado Altitude Training (CAT), located in Boulder, Colorado, to offer a unique chamber for altitude simulation. CAT advances altitude simulation technology by maintaining the largest research and development division in the industry. CAT has invested heavily in technology and research to maximize comfort.A CAT system can reduce the oxygen content from 20.9% to 15.2% to simulate 9,000 feet at sea level, while keeping the pressure unchanged. Whether at real altitude, in a hypobaric chamber, or in an environmental room/CAT system, the amount of inspired oxygen and physiological effects are the same.

Cold Rooms
Our walk-in cold rooms offer reliable, efficient environmental controls for a variety of applications; including: GMP Storage and Cold Storage for Seed and Agricultural Products, Nutritional Supplements, and more. Our cold rooms are typically supplied with desiccant or refrigeration based dehumidification in order to maintain a low dew-point and prevent ice accumulation on both product and equipment surfaces. Typical temperatures for our cold rooms range from of 0o C to 10o C.

For GMP studies, ultrasonic humidification provides excellent humidity control and avoids hot spots during mapping. Thermoelectric cooling provides more stable temperature control than equivalent refrigeration systems. Our plant growth rooms are modular, reconfigurable, and are offered both as standard and as entirely customizable systems—from panel configuration to available surface finishes, to nearly unlimited lighting and humidification/water distribution options, to movable, adjustable storage and racking/shelving options—we can work to meet each researcher’s unique and specific requirements. Temperatures available down to 10° C and go up to 40° C. In addition to our standard T8 and T5 lighting options, we have teamed up with LumiGrow, the leading provider of smart horticultural lighting solutions. Both reach-ins and rooms can incorporate the LumiGrow lamps.

Insect Rearing Rooms
Standard walk-in incubators or coolers used in the rearing of drosophila and other biological organisms often end up being problematic for a number of reasons. The acids inherent in the rearing of many specimens or their food can quickly corrode a standard refrigeration evaporator. High humidity exacerbates the issue, as droplets of concentrated acid will collect on the cooling components.

Laboratory Incubators
DB & TE Series
These laboratory incubators have a wider range of temperatures. Also, these might be purchased if the role of the chamber might switch in future use – for example from cooler to above ambient temperatures. We have two types of heated and cooled incubators. The DB series incubators use compressor technology and have temperature ranges of 4°C-60°C. The TE series incubators use thermoelectric technology and have temperature ranges of 20°C-60°C.

Environmental Chambers
KB Series
Darwin Chambers KB series Environmental Chambers are a top selling unit. It is quiet, easy to clean, highly reliable and ideal for laboratory use. Our environmental chamber offers hot gas bypass control of refrigeration and resistive heat to facilitate reliable, critical temperature and humidity control. All KB series environmental testing chamber models are designed to have a temperature range of 4-60o Celsius. Temperatures greater than 60o Celsius or lower than 4o Celsius can be achieved with optional upgrades to construction and components. All KB series environmental chambers come standard with Fuji’s PXG4 microprocessor, but we often install Watlow brand microprocessors for customers that need that brand or the capabilities it has. Unlike many proprietary controllers on the market, these controllers are available off the shelf and have been proven in tens of thousands of installations. All necessary functions are included in our Features section below. Many additional options are available both regarding control and recording of data (chart recorders and loggers)

Vivarium Rooms
Darwin Chambers Company ALAAC, OLAW, USDA, and NIH-compliant Vivarium Rooms are designed for maximum value, sustainability, and conformance with applicable standards. We have over a decade of experience in working with researchers to provide humane and often precise conditions to meet their unique and specific needs. Vivariums are commonly defined as a place, such as a in laboratory, where live animals and/or plants are kept under conditions simulating a natural environment. Often, these contain both plants and animals, within a micro-ecosystem, often with controlled stability or controlled change of environmental variables. We offer various surface finishes, including all stainless steel, which are easy to maintain and may be sterilized to cleanroom standards. Compartmentalized enlosures are offered, which are modular and reconfigurable. Our rooms will accommodate plants as needed (we also provide plant growth chambers), and we offer control of humidification in conformance with current ALAAC mandates, sufficient air exchanges, available HEPA filtration of intake and/or exhaust air, standard screened equipment hous- ings, and other such considerations.
