Life Cyclic Durability Testing
Environment Associates can provide everything you need for cyclic durability testing and performance fixturing. Services include mechanical cycling to a position or load, fatigue cycling to a fixed load, rotational torque cycling, and simple push/pull cycling. EA can design your fixture with electro-dynamic, air, or hydraulic assistance to mechanically move your part. All of our fixtures can be manufactured to withstand a wide range of temperature, humidity and vibration inputs. If required, forces can be monitored electronically, using a wide variety of inputs (i.e. strain gages, load cells, rotational transducers, thermocouples, shunts, and more). EA can create holding and check fixtures to perform “pre” and “post” evaluation for dimensional issues that may occur during testing. EA can provide fixtures for single tests run internally for EA test labs and can manufacture fixtures to be purchased directly by the customer for their internal use.

Cyclic Durability (Fatigue) Testing
Today’s products are very complex and designed to minimize costs with the use of FEA software that can project fatigue hot spots. Using your analysis results, we can create a test plan that includes mechanical cyclic durability and environments that will best test your design.

901 Shock Testing
Environment Associates performs high-impact mechanical shock for all grades, classes and types of Navy ship board machinery, equipment, systems and structures. Our lightweight shock machine is approved by the Naval Surface Warfare Center for use in testing the survivability of Navy shipboard equipment to MIL-S-901D on items and fixturing weighing up to a combined 500 lbs.

Altitude Testing
Our environmental testing facilities simulate altitude testing from -400 ft. (-121 meters) to outer space at 100,000 ft. (30,480 meters) or up to 10-6 Torr (1.3e-7 kPa) with temperature applied as low as -300°F (180C). We can reach these heights within 5 minutes or less. We are capable to handle products measuring up to 4ft X 4ft X 8ft to many standards, including MIL-STD-810 and RTCA DO-160.

Solar Radiation Testing
Solar radiation on materials can cause cosmetic deterioration with the fading or oxidation of plastic. This oxidation can make components start to fade and weaken. The heating effects of the sun can cause plastic, vinyl and/or metal components to shift or distort, causing operational interruption, shorts and false control inputs. The most significant effect is discoloration that cheapens the look of any quality product. These effects can be accentuated when combined with temperature and humidity.

Connector Testing
If your product uses a connector or terminal, it can be susceptible to a unique set of failures that warrant specific connector testing conditions to determine the robustness of your design.

Acceleration (Centrifuge) Testing
Environment Associates provides centrifuge equipment for acceleration testing. Our acceleration testing equipment measures 3 ft. (0.91 m) and a 6 ft. (1.82 m) lengths that provides constant accelerations of 50 Gs and can handle payloads of 20 lbs. to 50 lbs. The Acceleration Testing is also called G-Force Testing

Thermal Shock Testing
Thermal shock is a very important test for determining the reliability of a product when subjected to sudden changes in temperature and how this stress source can accumulate deterioration or physical damage in performance.

Vibration Testing
As specialists in dynamic testing, we provide equipment capable of exerting a 6,000 to 40,000 pound force with the capacity to perform closed-loop control from a single input to multiple channel inputs (from 2 to 32) with averaging or notched channel control. Vibration control systems can be programmed for real time monitoring, scheduled for length of time, or level scaled by dB or percentage, or scaled at various durations at different acceleration levels.

Thermal Vacuum Testing
When you want to test your product for extreme space conditions, that include temperatures from 155°C to -175°C at space vacuum altitudes, Environment Associates is your solution. Using this test to determine the unique failures of space mechanisms that orbit the earth is key in improving system reliability. Thermal vacuum testing is similar to thermal cycling but adds deep space vacuums for detecting corona/arcing and intermittence and increases a product’s out-gassing. The key failure modes found during this test are: 1) electrical iIntermittence, 2) thermal control issues, 3) arcing, 4) corona, 5) material out-gassing, and more, to determine a product’s flight-worthiness for workmanship and processing issues.

Sand & Dust Testing
Products with moving parts, electromechanical components, filtering systems and electronics are all susceptible to fine and large particle dust that can contaminate a product. These contaminates can cause premature failures and loss of function.Today’s test plans for phones, computers, vehicles, enclosures and aircraft include sand and dust testing to determine if this stress source would cause functional deterioration. Our services include military and automotive dust testing for both blowing and agitated dust and sand.

Accelerated Aging Testing
Accelerated aging is a testing method used to estimate the useful lifespan of a product when actual lifespan data is unavailable. This occurs with products that have not existed long enough to have gone through their useful lifespan: for example, a new type of car engine or a new polymer for replacement joints or medical products and packaging.

Contaminating Fluid Testing
Products manufactured using plastics, coated and painted surfaces, seals or other "A" surface materials can come in contact with spilled chemicals, sweat, cleaners, lubricants and fuels that can be a potential stress source for a product. These stress sources can cause discoloration, deterioration and de-lamination failures. We can create a list of fluids and/or follow TRCA, DO-160, MIL-STD-810 and ASTM guidelines for a list of products that should be used to test your part's compatibility.
